Bayes Factor TTE

Single-arm TTE trial monitoring with Bayes factors

This software implements the clinical trial monitoring method proposed by Valen Johnson and John Cook in "Bayesian Design of Single-Arm Phase II Clinical Trials with Continuous Monitoring," Clinical Trials 2009; 6(3):217-26. (preprint) This software assumes time-to-event outcomes. There is an analogous application for binary outcomes.

The software performs simulations to compare a null hypothesis (H0) such as:
H0: The median time-to-event using the treatment is 4.0 months,
to an alternative hypothesis (H1) such as:
H1: The median time-to-event using the treatment is 5.5 months.

The Bayes Factor method is used to determine the odds in favor of the alternative hypothesis as each patient is treated and results observed during trial progression.

BayesFactorTTE is a command line program for Microsoft Windows 7. To install the software, unzip the file downloaded here. Then follow the instructions in the file readme.txt.

To use the software, open a command window and navigate to the directory containing the executable file. Running the program with no arguments will print instructions for using the software. For more information, see the BayesFactorTTE user's guide.

Changes in version 1.1:

  • Greatly increased the maximum number of patients the algorithm will handle.
  • Improved the program error handling.
  • Cosmetic improvements were made to the output report.
  • Significant improvements for code maintainability were made.
